The Catalina Casino
Commissioned by William Wrigley Jr., Catalina Casino opened in 1929, marking the 10-year anniversary of Wrigley's 1919 purchase of Catalina Island.
Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Gardens
The Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Garden is operated by the Catalina Island Conservancy. It's a 30-minute walk up Avalon Canyon from downtown Avalon. You can also take COAST, Avalon's Public Transportation System, a taxi, ride a bike or rent a golf cart.
Civil War Barracks
This historical site cannot be toured.
In 1864, the U.S. Army sent 83 soldiers to survey Santa Catalina Island as a proposed reservation for “militant” Native Americans.
Catalina Museum for Art & History
For more than 60 years, the Catalina Museum for Art & History has collected, preserved and presented the rich cultural heritage of Catalina Island for visitors from all over the world to enjoy.
Catalina Country Club
The Catalina Country Club is open to the public for weddings and private events, but this wasn't always so. The facility was originally built for William Wrigley’s baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.
Catalina Golf Course
A great example of Catalina’s charm and history can be found at Catalina Island Country Club and Golf Course, the oldest operating course west of the Mississippi and the former home of the Bobby Jones Invitational Tournament.
