Biking in Two Harbors
AWESOME TERRAIN AND VIEWS TO MATCH
Mountain biking on Catalina Island is a must-do for any serious mountain biker. From Two Harbors, several trails provide direct access to the island’s rugged interior and beautiful shoreline. The dirt roads that crisscross the island's interior offer challenging riding, with most trails rated moderate to advanced. And the views are awesome.
Due to the Island’s rugged interior, all-terrain knobby tires are required. Riders must wear helmets that meet American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or Snell Memorial Foundation safety standards. Just want to cruise around the village? That’s okay, too. Just watch for pedestrians.
Non-permitted biking is allowed within Avalon and the village of Two Harbors. Bike permits are required to ride into the island's interior and are a benefit of membership with the Catalina Island Conservancy. Memberships may be obtained at the Conservancy's Office in Avalon, located at 125 Clarissa AvenuePermits are also available at Catalina's Airport-in-the-Sky 310.510.0143 and Two Harbors Visitors Services 310.510.4205 during regular hours of operation. Every rental includes a helmet, map, and a permit.
Most of the cross-channel passenger boats transport bicycles for a fee with advance reservations. In case you did not bring your own bike, rentals are available at the Two Harbors Dive & Recreation Center.
