While things are a little different in the world right now, one thing remains the same: kids can show their parents how much they love them with some tasty homecooking!
Catalina Island Company's executive chef Roberto Hernandez created a fun recipe: French Toast with Banana and Nutella! This recipe is designed for kids to make with adult supervision. Watch Chef Roberto and his helper, Arianna, cook in the kitchen.
Ingredients
3 slices white bread (or Texas White or Brioche)
½ cup whole milk
2 whole eggs
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
1 full spoon vanilla extract
1 fresh banana
4 oz. Nutella
4 oz. maple syrup
1 cinnamon stick
1 oz. powdered sugar
2 oz. butter
Step One
We're glad you're cooking with us today! Meet Chef Roberto Hernandez and his special helper for this recipe, Arianna! Arianna shows you the ingredients we'll be using today.
Step Two
In a mixing bowl, combine the ½ cup whole milk, 2 eggs, ground cinnamon, ½ tsp ground nutmeg, and 1 full spoon of vanilla extract.
Step Three
Whisk until all ingredients until they are well blended.
Step Four
Slice 1 fresh banana.
Step Five
Add 4 to 5 oz. of maple syrup to a pan. Add one cinnamon stick.
Step Six
Then in a hot pan add the banana and 1 oz. of cinnamon infused maple syrup. Cook and stir until bananas are golden brown.
Step Seven
Using a nonstick pan, add 2 oz. butter to the pan and let it dissolve. Then dip the bread in the egg mixture. Fry until golden brown.
Step Eight
Flip to cook the other side until golden brown.
